The San Francisco 49ers inactives list included one surprise.
- Derek Carrier
- Nick Moody
- Ryan Seymour
- Quinton Dial
- Joe Looney
- Mario Manningham
- Jon Baldwin
Manningham is inactive for the first time since Nov. 10 against the Panthers. He only played 15 snaps last week in Tampa, and didn’t participate in practice either on Thursday or Saturday due to what the 49ers termed as “illness, knee.”
That means Quinton Patton is back in the active lineup for the first time since September. The rookie wide receiver has suffered several injuries this season, including a fracture in his hand before the season and another fracture in his foot that kept him off the practice field for several weeks during the season.
Mike Iupati is back, and he’s listed as the starting left guard. Also returning to the field is Vance McDonald, who missed last week due to an ankle injury, and Will Tukuafu, who the 49ers signed off the street this week to replace Bruce Miller. Anthony Dixon should see the bulk of the action at fullback tonight, but Jim Harbaugh said on Monday that they could “get creative,” so who knows.
The parking lots seemed more crowded and a bit more festive than usual during our walk into the stadium, and there’s plenty of security along the perimeter of the field. I’m sitting between Chris Biderman (who was on our latest BASGcast) and David Fucillo (lead editor of Niners Nation), who’s been sleeping in our living room for the past few nights. Here’s our view:
It’s really hard to tell both in the photo and in person, but it says “FAREWELL CANDLESTICK” in the upper reserved seats, and the end zones got the postseason red treatment. All the seats have a program of some sort, and a glowstick. They didn’t hand out glowsticks in the press box.
