Aldon Smith in trouble again? Witnesses say he was detained by LAX Police, TMZ posts video

Aldon Smith 49ers Week 1 warmups

The San Francisco 49ers’ offseason from hell continues:

In the video, someone appears to be saying, “You’re an embarrassment.” All I could make out from Smith (assuming that’s him) is when he said, “I did nothing wrong.”

From Matt Barrows:

Police at Los Angeles International airport say they took a 25-year-old San Jose man into custody today after he became belligerent in a security line and said something about having a bomb. Witnesses, some of whom have video of the incident, said the suspect is 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith.

Here’s one witness:

LAX hasn’t released any names, but considering Aldon Smith’s history and the video released by the 49ers’ least favorite website these days, it appears we’ll hear more details about the talented/troubled pass rusher soon. Smith and Chris Culliver both had court dates this past week, and for whatever reason TMZ Sports included Culliver’s name in their URL. Culliver wasn’t mentioned in their story, but Colin Kaepernick was (no surprise there).

Were Culliver and Smith hanging out together when this incident occurred?

Who knows what those tweets mean, or if they’re legitimate. Apparently this person works at the In-N-Out on Tully Road in San Jose, but trusting people you don’t know on Twitter isn’t exactly the brightest move.

San Francisco Giants fans surely remember when Sergio Romo was detained at Las Vegas Airport after he allegedly became belligerent with TSA employees. The incident occurred between the 2012 and 2013 seasons, and Romo was never charged.

Smith has been arrested twice for DUI and weapons charges are pending against him. His next court date is set for April 29. After his second DUI, which took place during the week before the team’s third game of the season against the Indianapolis Colts, Smith left the team and spent several weeks at an inpatient substance abuse rehab facility.

This is a difficult story because the 49ers ( York, Baalke, Harbaugh ) need to pretend they care about the athlete  and the conduct of their players, but they just want them to win games, then when they're too slow or injured, cut them and hope they go away quietly. They could not care LESS about Aldon Smith's mental health/sobriety or Kaepernick's marijuana use or Culliver's opinions on sexuality.

Now that Aldon has made the "No Fly" list, who can the Niners get to start the road games?  I'm so sick of the TSA profiling Arabs and drunk Linebackers.

Say what you will about Richard Sherman, but I don't recall him ever being arrested or investigated by police....

Wow another 49er in trouble with the law.

Have NFL officials considered changing the team name to the San Francisco Criminals?

@Pulgas de Brent BurnsHa ha! Of course, but its been a while since I've seen a team with a regressing quarterback, who may/may not have been involved in bong hits and sexual assault, a muti-charge felon who tosses bomb threats in airports as the cherry on top of his case file resume, and a slur dropping hit and run assailant, who threatened witnesses with brass knuckles. As long as they win, right?
