It was a great day all around. Bruce Bochy and the Giants beat the Rockies for the third time in a row, and the team at Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria beat last year’s fund raising total. Tonight’s “Dine and Donate” raised $16,353 in sales, all of which were donated to the Homeless Prenatal Program. To recognize the time and effort everyone took to put this event together and attend tonight, Amici’s added $6,647 to make their donation an even $23,000 — that’s $3,000 more than last year’s donation! And that’s not all — raffle ticket sales will add more to the total, and Mom’s The Word Maternity will donate 80 Baby Carriers to HPP.
I’m pretty sure Bruce thinks I was following him around all day. I asked him what Tim Lincecum would have to do to get back to the rotation this morning, then I pestered him with a question about whether Santiago Casilla’s 12th save meant he’s the full-time closer, then a couple hours later we’re at Amici’s raising money and taking photos with kids. Alright, Bochy took photos with kids.
Here’s a message from Amici’s Director of Marketing Richard Allum:
We’d like to express our appreciation and gratitude to Bruce & Kim Bochy, Mike Krukow, Marty Lurie and Larry Baer for coming to the restaurants to interact with fans, but most of all to each and every person who came to the restaurants, ordered for delivery, or bought a raffle ticket in support of this great cause.
We were so proud and honored to take part in this event. Here are some photos my wife took — it’s pretty clear Bochy enjoys interacting with kids, and that’s what the entire event was truly all about.
