The 49ers returned to the field with a tie (weird) against the Rams Sunday. Now, San Francisco is looking forward to a game with possible playoff implications against the Chicago Bears and may be doing so with Colin Kaepernick at the helm rather than Alex Smith. When I left the Boardroom bar at halftime to run to a prior commitment out of town, I knew we were down by 7 points, I wasn't really happy about the first half and didn't want to keep tipping the bartender if the 49ers were behind, trailing the Rams. My mobile phone battery went dead, so it wasn't until I arrived at my destination and promptly plugged in before I got the shock of my life - no, Kaepernick didn't run for 200 yards, but the game ended in a virtual tie. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the final score. I thought BASG conspired with other news agencies to publish the fact the 49ers bound themselves to a tie (just kidding).. But as I read on, I was impressed that Kaepernick ran for yet another touchdown and amassed 66 yards for the game, while throwing tight spirals for 117 yards. That is 183 total yards by Kaep even if he hadn't played an entire 4 quarters, only a half and a minute. He shows that if he is allowed to play a full 4 quarters of a game, he will pass, run, and score, and throw touchdowns. He will go the full 9 yards, so to speak. He has deceptive moves like Moss as, only that he is a quarterback. Kaep throws into tighter windows, but Alex has more experience, and they both can run - only Kaep is faster and scores as often as he is put on the field.
