Hanson iiAs promised, the following are all the defensive stats you won’t find on the box score of the Raiders preseason opener. These are lifted directly from ProFootball Focus’ game charting stats. So, really, all credit belongs there. I’m merely the messenger.

I found snap counts particularly interesting. So, I’ve sorted players at a given position by snap count. As you can see, David Bass, Omar Gaither and Brandian Ross all lead their respective positions.

Also of interest: PFF rated Phillip Adams, Chance Casey, Ryan Robinson and Keenan Clayton as the top defensive performers. And, Christo Bilukidi, Mitchell White, Joselio Hanson, Stacey McGee, Nick Roach, and Sio Moore as the worst.

Before you go on, an important stat to understand is the “Stop,” which ProFootball Focus (PFF) defines as:

[The] amount of times a defender has caused an offensive failure as a percentage of how many plays he is in on run defense, excluding plays nullified by penalty. An offensive failure (a “stop” from the defense’s perspective) is a play that is unable to obtain 40% of required yardage on first down, 60% of required yardage on second down, or the entire required yardage on third or fourth.
