The San Francisco Giants lost to the Chicago Cubs this afternoon 5-4, but with Buster Posey only playing part-time these days anytime he starts is a celebratory moment for Giants fans. Today was the first time I’ve seen him in person, and if I had just woken up from a coma that started at the beginning of last May I would’ve had no idea that he was coming back from ankle surgery.
He probably wishes we were all in comas since then, since now he’s left answering question after question about how his ankle feels, whether there’s pain, what it’s like to be back out on the field, what it’s like to catch fill-in-the-blank pitcher, if he’s comfortable squatting, running the bases, hitting or whatever else people feel like asking him.
Maybe I am over-analyzing his demeanor a bit. There’s a chance he isn’t tired of facing these questions in the slightest, and his answers this afternoon in the clubhouse were a bit on the short side because he’s a very efficient interviewee.
