The San Francisco 49ers are headed to the Super Bowl, which changes everything. There were at least 15 expensive cameras trained on Greg Roman during today’s press conference, over double the normal amount. The 49ers’ facility is packed with not just the normal beat guys, but reporters from ESPN, NFL Network and other national outlets. Colin Kaepernick’s interview, which took place in the center of the locker room, was so crowded that after a couple minutes I just gave up even trying to get a good view of what was going on, let alone ask a question.
After the players headed to their pre-practice meetings, everyone went to the media trailer. About 10 minutes later, 15 pizzas arrived courtesy of Kaepernick. One of the boxes read: “THANK YOU ALL FROM ‘KAEP’ + XAM SPORTS,” his agency.
And yes, I had one slice of pepperoni. How could I not? Even though the trailer was more crowded than ever before, the 49ers’ QB sent too much pizza to go around. Just don’t tell Larry Krueger that I partook in the feast. He and Gary might do a whole hour on it tomorrow.
For the man who scored a 37 on the Wonderlic and was known for acing tests and sitting in the front of the class in high school, this gesture of goodwill toward the people who cover him may be his smartest move yet. This might cause the media to stop grumbling about the short answers Kaepernick provides during press conferences for quite some time (or until we get hungry again).

You read their minds BASG. Topic number one on KNBR Friday morning was PizzaGate. I don't know the ediquett of press behavior at 49er locker rooms but Gary had his opinion on this subject.
All of those complaining about the free pizza given to the media will be the first ones to complain when the pizza doesn't come next time around. Never waste an opportunity to complain...
Jeez, it's pizza, not a back-alley handshake and payoff... *takes notes* Journalistic integrity requires starving yourself. Check.
Yeah, what I don't get is Larry Krueger's obsession with the media and food. Off the top of my head, he's got on Henry Shuman's weight after commenting Pablo Sandovol's weight, made fun of a mystery blogger who ate some free hot dogs at 49er game, took some digs at Dave Feldman for cutting in the cupcake line at a niner game and now this. Dude is infatuated with the medias food habits.
"Just don’t tell Larry Krueger that I partook in the feast. He and Gary might do a whole hour on it tomorrow." You called it. They did.
They were basically making fun of the reporters who were tweeting out the photo's of the pizza. Also that it was probably the agency's idea. And yes, a little what Stan wrote, have a little self respect and don't eat the pizza. Larry even hinted that it shows a lack of journalistic integrity. They even talked to Matt Barrows about it, who I guess is one of the ones who tweeted it. Should be on the podcasts.
What'd they say?
He said if you have any self respect as a reporter, you don't eat the pizza. He then later qualifies it to "Talk show hosts, people don't care, but if your a reporter.."..blah.blah. Yes,he has an out for everything he and Larry do and why it's ok.. He,as I always say, plays both sides. You cant lose that way. Con artist 101.
"Playing both sides of an issue". Good point. I noticed the same thing. Take a stand or don't speak.
Way cool. Go NINERS!!!
But wait - weren't you partnering with Amici's on some stuff? You'll have to let them know that it is time for them to step up!
Although..just remember Kap has taken the Jim Harbaugh course in QBing. So you know when you eat any food sent, its possible where the knuckle goes touched the food... If even one piece was missing..warned.
What's next? Kaepernickeroni Pizza? No Amici's? BASG get on em, what a publicity opportunity! Rumor has it that as soon as the Ralph Barberi signature Amici's Boxes run out, the new box will be the BASG Signature Edition. Any truth to that rumor? Confirm? or Deny? LOL
Wow... He is good in all aspects even with the media personel :-)
Krueger was the first person I thought of when I saw this story. Good thing Kap didn't have hot dogs delivered.
He does give you the impression he has his hand out all the time. Its the KNBR way.
Bingo! Like on cue,Kreuger credits the shirt on his back to some clothier. I guess he will wear donated chones too.
I hope that's not his hand writing
Seeing as Kaepernick told the PR staff that his nickname is spelled "Kap," I doubt it. Maybe it was the delivery driver who wrote that.
You would be a FOOL to refuse Kaepizza!
Matt Barrows tweeted that he was "#pizzanicking." After I laughed he flexed while taking a bite to show me what he meant.
Brilliant move!
