After Jaymee Sire left for ESPN, CSN Bay Area was forced to do a little reshuffling to fill the gaps she left when she became a studio anchor for the “Worldwide Leader in Sports.” Today CSNBA announced the hiring of a new employee, who might serve as Sire’s replacement.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (May 6, 2013) – Comcast SportsNet Bay Area (@CSNAuthentic), the home of “Authentic Bay Area Sports,” today announced that Erin Coscarelli (@ECoscarelliCSN) has joined its roster of on-air talent as an anchor and reporter and will appear on the network’s signature sports news program SportsNet Central and other studio shows. The announcement was made by Ted Griggs, President of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
Griggs said, “We are pleased to welcome Erin to Comcast SportsNet. She is a terrific addition to our roster of talented anchors and reporters. I am confident that viewers will appreciate her work and the enthusiasm that she will bring to the network.
Coscarelli added, “It is an honor to join a richly talented staff of anchors and reporters for a network committed to presenting Northern California’s most comprehensive and entertaining coverage of the local teams. There are few places that are more distinct than the Bay Area and I am excited to be a part of a community that truly loves and embraces their teams and shares my passion for sports.”
Over the years, Coscarelli has served as a sideline reporter for various sports and networks – college football on Fox Sports West and the Pac 12 Network; Professional Bull Riders broadcasts on CBS, NBC and NBC Sports Network; and the Pop Warner Super Bowl on ESPN. Additionally, she was an anchor for Fox Sports Flash, which delivers hourly sports news updates on FoxSports.com. Prior to Fox Sports, she was a reporter for ESPN’s Summer X-Games and World Series of Poker.
Coscarelli, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., is a 2006 graduate of the University of Southern California, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting. While at USC, Coscarelli served as sports anchor/reporter for the campus television station Annenberg TV and on the school’s radio station KSCR 1560 AM.
Mindi Bach took over Sire’s San Francisco Giants duties at the start of the 2013 season, a move which seemed logical because Bach, like Sire, is a capable and experienced television reporter. However, Bach also covers the San Francisco 49ers in the same capacity, which means she’ll be pretty busy once training camp starts if that arrangement continues. So along with anchoring the studio show, Coscarelli could also either sub in for Bach on Giants coverage or become a fixture in Santa Clara. Or CSN could move multiple personalities around.
Here are CSN’s current sideline reporters, as far as I know (sometimes the line between “insider” and “sideline reporter” can get blurry):
San Francisco Giants: Mindi Bach, Amy Gutierrez
Oakland A’s: Kate Longworth
San Francisco 49ers: Bach
Oakland Raiders: Longworth
Golden State Warriors: Ric Bucher
San Jose Sharks: Brodie Brazil
San Jose Earthquakes: Dan Dibley
