Jim Harbaugh

Jim Harbaugh gives eyewitness account of Jeremy Lane sideline collision, refuses to name names

By now most people have heard about an unidentified member of the San Francisco 49ers colliding with Seahawks gunner Jeremy Lane during a Seattle punt. Jim Harbaugh was asked about whether the NFL had contacted the team about the play in question.

“I think there has been some contact there. Trent’s talked to them about that,” Harbaugh said. Then he proceeded to detail exactly what he saw on the play (you can see that Lane came close to running into Harbaugh as he made his way back to the field).

I do have a perspective on that because I did see it. I was standing closer to the sideline than the person that got run into. I saw Jeremy get deep into our box and I turned around and what I saw was our guy do the exact same, turned around. I was practically in his shoe because we both kind of turned around and saw the same thing. He did run into our guy and kind of stumbled down to the ground. But our guy was in the spot back where he was supposed to be. I saw it with my own two eyes. I saw the same kind of reaction, he made the same reaction that I did. It was bang-bang. I could be called for a witness on that, because I saw it.

You don’t know which way to go other than just kind of hold your ground and protect yourself. That’s his reaction, it would’ve been mine as well. I’d say the same thing on record.

Does Harbaugh have the name of the person who Lane ran into (or ran into Lane)?

“I know that,” said Harbaugh. “I don’t think that’s come out. I’m not going to be the one to say anything.”

It’s been reported that the 49ers employee in question is an assistant strength coach.
