I’m here in New Orleans, where the questions can get interesting. Today, a reporter stuck his neck out and asked San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh why he wears a Sharpie around his. The best part: how Harbaugh took umbrage with the reporter’s terminology.
“Well, I take great offense that you call it a necklace. It’s a whistle,” Harbaugh said. “It’s a coach’s whistle that coaches have long worn. Every coach should have a whistle. Hard to imagine going to practice without a whistle.”
After Harbaugh wrapped up, six 49ers players were seated at tables for their own media sessions. The most quotable of the group (by far) was Alex Boone, who was asked about Harbaugh’s mysterious accessory.
“What’d he say? I’ve always wondered that,” Boone said.
“He took offense to it,” the reporter said.
“Did he really? You pissed him off,” said Boone. “I’ve never seen him use it, now that I think about it. I’m going to ask him. I’ll get the answer.”
Stay tuned!

So nobody is writing that the Alex Smith thing will blow up? Not even that CK a near rookie is starting? I just thought somebody would go against the grain.
