Just received this statement from the San Francisco 49ers on Jim Harbaugh:
“Coach Harbaugh is not at the facility today under doctor’s orders. He is having a minor procedure done at Stanford Hospital today for an irregular heartbeat. We anticipate that he will be back at the facility tomorrow, but do not have any further information to share at this time. Assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Brad Seely will be overseeing today’s practice and meetings. When more information regarding coach Harbaugh is available we will pass that along.”
While it sounds weird to term any heart procedure as “minor,” the fact that Harbaugh will in all probability be back in Santa Clara coaching the team is a good sign. Seely has served as an assistant head coach for four straight years, from 2009-10 with the Cleveland Browns and for the past two seasons under Harbaugh.
Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker was hospitalized for an irregular heartbeat in September, then suffered a “mini stroke” as he was being discharged. Baker returned to manage the Reds during the last two weeks of the regular season as well as the NLDS.
As the 49ers prepare to face the Chicago Bears on Monday, Patrick Willis doesn’t seem too worried:

I will bet the first time he was told-as a player- the Medical people gave him the "lay off the caffeine" speech. Now that he's famous..a six figure medical procedure that insurance covers ( and we pay for eventually) is more of the rich aren't like us medicine. Well, now he doesn't have to bother taking a pill...you paid for that to go away. Brutal honesty..is still honesty.
I laugh at the young media tearing up over Harbaugh's "condition"..LAUGH!. Ralph? that's a man battling a real problem..I cant get it into your young heads what he faces. Jim?.. He's fine.
He's lucky to be alive.
Well wishes to Jim Harbaugh! I hope he feels better! I will pray for him! I was saddened to hear about this today. Yeah, Harbaugh is an intense guy, but hopefully he will take it easy a little bit after this. This just shows you how stressful it is to be an NFL coach. It's very demanding obviously. I couldn't see myself working for 20 hrs. a day. When do these NFL coaches sleep and see their families? But yes, get well soon Jim Harbaugh!
That's weird: On Kron a 49er says "Coach always tells us he's tough as a $2.00 steak I change channels..to KPIX...Another 49er "Coach tells up he's as tough as a $2.00 steak"..same joke or was it the same guy? Anybody see all that? IF different players...that SF 49ers media dept. can really coach players too.
It's probably a cardioversion. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cardioversion/MY00705
See?
When you have the best medical plan money buys..Stanford will find a way to use their Dr's. For the rest of us? Eh,its something 11,000 other people have..take a pill to slow it up. I know everything. Its a curse too.
Jim Harbaugh aint dying soon-lol. Maybe one day-of old age. Wait until you get older..that stuff is small potatoes.
