In the blogging world, spamming is pretty much on par with baseball players tipping pitches for players on opposing teams (cough … A-Rod … cough). Nobody wants to be sold something when they’re reading free sports opinions, which is why new people who post links on message boards are usually banned.
But do the rules apply if you’re linking to something you wrote on another website? I don’t think so…For my new job as an editor of a community devoted to accountants and auditors (which is pretty much the same thing as writing about Bay Area sports, only less depressing most of the time), I wrote an article titled Top 10 Athletes who Should Have Hired a Good Accountant. Really, it’s a story about the most famous rich athletes who lost all their money either due to divorce, bad business dealings or general stupidity (or in many cases, all three). Can you guess the No. 1 broke athlete? I bet you can’t!
Check it out, and join the community. Don’t worry if you have no interest in accounting, just fake it. I need users, page views, the whole thing.
