I’ve seen several people complain about Lil Wayne’s rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the 7th inning stretch during Game 6 of the NLCS, and I’m not exactly sure why.
Actually, I guess I do. People will complain about anything, and people who hate rap music will scream “YOU CALL THIS MUSIC!?!?” at any opportunity. However, what exactly were people expecting last night?
At least Wayne got the lyrics right, which is more than one could say for the Beach Blanket Babylon cast member who sang “God Bless America” minutes earlier.
Lil Wayne is not Tony Bennett. He isn’t Bill Murray, either. He’s a short rapper with multiple facial tattoos. But Tunechi showed up and brought the energy, and he’s apparently friends with Ryan Theriot (Lil Riot, according to Alex Pavlovic). That’s good enough for me. Here is video of Lil Weezy (who just turned 30, which is hard for me to wrap my head around), who called the experience “a true life highlight.”

I meant autotune
I'm suprised he didn't audiotune it
Is that it? The way you wrote it I expected "Take me out to the ball park owned by the military industrial complex"..and "So is the Cracker's Jacks".
It's not like it's the "coolest" song ever to sing. I think he did a good job with it and at least gave it some energy. Didn't miss the organ one bit!
I expect a Key and Peele sketch shortly.
Take me out to the ball game, chopped and screwed. That'll go on the shelf, right next to his anthem for the Green Bay Packers.
