Ahmed Fareed, after two years with MLB Network is headed west to join Comcast Sports Net Bay Area. It has not been announced when he will make his first appearance on the network.
Reading between the lines on his tweets he sent out yesterday, it looks as if he will become a host on Sports Net Central, most likely replacing Dave Benz who recently left to become the play by play announcer for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
With his experience at MLB Network Fareed will likely also see time covering both the Giants and the A’s on CSN post game shows. I always enjoyed him on MLB Network, and he should do an excellent job and be a very nice addition in these roles.
If this means less Greg Papa during baseball season, I think that we will all come out winners in this.
Fareed’s prior work includes five years with WAVY-TV/FOX 43 TV in Norfolk, Va., covering the Redskins, the Orioles Triple-A team, and Virginia Tech and University of Virginia football. Before that Fareed was a weekend sports anchor at WILX-TV and WSYM-TV in Lansing, MI.

I don't like speculating on what it means. Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area has the best sports coverage anywhere. Everyone at Comcast is great. The coverage is unmatched, regardless of the talent in front of the camera, who are all the best at what they do. I'm sure Fareed will fit right in.
I don't mind Papa at all. I really hope this means less of a presence of Kozimor and his endless, endless (what am I trying to say?) endless slurping.
Does anyone know what happened to Damon Andrews
Yeah, he went back to L.A. to be closer to his family.... I liked Damon Andrews on CSN Bay Area. Hopefully everything is well with his family, and hopefully he landed a job somewhere. I'm sure a TV sports station in SoCal picked him up, unless he's doing something else. But yeah, Damon Andrews was cool.
Damon Andrews, Comcast said, "Moved to Los Angeles to be near family". Your guess is as good as mine otherwise.
I thought Dave Feldman was Dave Benz's replacement, since he basically took all of Benz's 49er duties on CSN Bay Area, but I guess it will be Fareed.
I guess this is a good hire for CSN Bay Area, even though I don't remember Fareed on MLB Network. I actually don't mind Greg Papa on CSN Bay Area, but yeah, this probably will mean less Greg Papa, or maybe he won't do as many Giants pre and post game live shows, unless Fareed just does all the Giants pre and post game shows for the day games after night games, which of course is a quick turn around when you're off the air at around 10:30 or 11 PM, and then you're back on the air the next day at like noon. I wouldn't be surprised if he does more A's pre and post game live, even though Kozimor, Henry Wofford, Brodie Brazil, and I think even Chris Townsend, host most of the A's pre and post game live shows on CSN California. I guess all I can say about this is, it will be nice to have a new voice there. I think CSN Bay Area does a great job covering all the Bay Area sports teams and covering all the Bay Area events and Bay Area related events, but yeah, it is nice when they bring in new people every once in a while.
I came in here specifically to read what Stan had to write/say about a 'colored' man being hired. ^ Looks like I didn't have to wait long ;)
Its KNBR that see's color. And they don't like it,avoid it...discriminate against it.
Although M-F THEGAME is a mirror of KNBR. Go figure that pointing all that out is "negative" votes with "The silent stupidity" here. And some not so silent..
Typical republican response. Gary radnich pulled this post up the second it was posted. He needs material for his first show of the new year
Diversity! I thought I would die first. Congrats Ted Griggs, a tip of the hat. Baer would have found the fifth Caucasian Giant announcer to fit in the booth, and Lee Hammer/Cumulus the 248th straight Caucasian hired on "merit"..uhuh.
Ahmed is very likeable but a little bland and slick at the same time. Greg Papa I can't stand, with his jazz musician style of microphone cradling.
