Barack Obama

Our server = Bob Howry

For all of you who’ve been wondering why your favorite Bay Area sports blog has been running a little slow lately (or not at all), we’ve been having a little server troubles. Since our current server’s been working about as quickly as Bob Howry in the eighth inning with the bases loaded, we’re in the process of finding a new server that should move as fast as a Stephen Strasburg fastball (until Strasburg’s arm blows out like Mark Prior’s, according to my buddy Francis).

Some links that should be up and running…

–The Giants may have played their worst game of the year last night in Washington, D.C., but at least they have more home runs as a team (26) than Adrian Gonzalez has hit this season (22). At this rate, I think they Giants would rather suffer through the curse of the Bambino than the curse of BALCO. At least it would be more entertaining. (McCovey Chronicles)

–The Giants may not hit for power, but they’re sure adept at teasing each other. You have to appreciate that, at least. (Extra Baggs)

–Is Billy Beane planning a huge shakeup in the near future? Mychael Urban thinks so. (Big Urb Baseball)

–The Santa Clara city council voted 5-2 to approve a $114M financing subsidy for the stadium Jed York and the San Francisco 49ers would like to build there. Don’t get too excited though, South Bay residents — there’s still a March vote to contend with as well as the fact that the stadium itself will probably run more than a billion dollars. (SJ Merc)

–Mark Roman returns to the 49ers after his request to be traded ran into a snag: the rest of the league knows how awful he is. “I’m here and I’m happy to be here,” Roman said. With no interceptions since 2006, he should be happy to have a job. (49ers Hot Read)

–As most of you probably know, Patrick Mills is all but in the upcoming NBA draft (sorry Randy Bennett, Omar Samhan and anybody who cares about Saint Mary’s basketball). For selfish reasons I’m enjoying this mock draft, which has Mills going to the Los Angeles Lakers and the Warriors taking Brandon Jennings. (Draft Express)

–Of course, the Warriors will probably pick another swingman anyway. (Monterey Herald)

–Barack Obama’s NBA Finals pick: The Lakers in 6. (ESPN)
