Well, there goes my bracket. Memphis and Duke, just like that, out within ten minutes of each other. I had an idea that the slow, soft Blue Devils were going to get manhandled by Villanova after watching the Wildcats do the same to the Bruins, but I really thought Memphis had something going. Instead, they got beat by a college version of the Warriors. That’s the last time I ever pick a John Calipari team to win the National Title. I need to get my mind off my NCAA picks somehow…I know, how about some links that have nothing to do with the Big Dance, March Madness, the NIT or even the CBI?!?!
–The 49ers will unveil their old/new uniforms during their NFL Draft party on April 25. Tickets are free, but you have to register on www.49ers.com. (Matt Maiocco)
–Here’s a little daydreaming about the Giants contending…you never know, they could be a second coming of the ’97 Giants, right? Jonathan Sanchez could be Shawn Estes 2.0, right? Right? Hey, where are you all going? (McCovey Chronicles)
–Manny Burriss is close to being named the Giants’ 2B ahead of Kevin Frandsen and the Giants plan on opening the gates an hour earlier on Friday and Saturday home games to allow the fans to watch batting practice…thanks to Bill Neukom. It isn’t exactly as exciting as signing Manny Ramirez, but it’s a start. (Extra Baggs)
–Matt Steinmetz is leaving Examiner.com for AOL/Fanhouse, the home of legendary butthole Jay Mariotti. Vic Tafur (who writes sporadically for SF Gate about fantasy) is the new Golden State Warriors Examiner, until he gets a better deal elsewhere. (Examiner)
–Rick Fox looks like he snagged Eliza Dushku, which makes sense on so many levels. After all, many people think he’s a douche, and she’s a Dushku. No? How about Fox wanted a girl who used less product in her hair than he does. No? Forget it, just check out the pics. Nice to see you can still be thought of as a chick-magnet as a retired basketball player who does a local postgame show for the Lakers. Isn’t Rick Fox kind of like the NBA’s Jamal Anderson? OK, I need to stop writing about this. (The Big Lead)
–Gilbert Arenas has retired from blogging. I feel so uncool right now. At least Agent Zero hasn’t started Tweeting. Yet. (Mashable)
–Alright, I know I said no NCAA links, but I just thought you all should know that Duke is very, very close even after losing last night. No homo. Well, maybe homo, I don’t know. Looks like Greg Paulus might have given out a “happy ending” after Duke’s not-so-happy exit from the Tourney. (The Dagger)
