San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Aldon Smith was stabbed at a large house party early Saturday morning, according to the Santa Clara sheriff’s office. 49ers general manager Trent Baalke issued this statement on the matter:
“The San Francisco 49ers are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night. We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time.”
Matt Barrows had this report on the party:
The Santa Clara sheriff’s office reported that deputies arrived at a large house party shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunshots.
When they arrived, they found two people with gunshot wounds and another suffering from stab wounds. All three were taken to hospitals where they were being treated for non-life threatening injuries. A sheriff’s spokesman said he could not comment on the identity of the victims.
Sgt. Jose Cardoza said the party was so large — more than 100 people — that San Jose police and the California Highway Patrol were called for backup. He said there were no suspects at this time. “It was a chaotic scene,” Cardoza said. “There was a lot of commotion, and no one knows where the gunshots came from.”
Large get-togethers have been routine at Smith San Jose mansion this off-season, according to a source who has been in attendance at these parties. Smith’s parties include “no real security, no control, lots of 49ers in attendance, and prevalent drug use among guests,” according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The source in no way indicated that Smith or any 49ers players were seen using drugs.
One of Smith’s parties was detailed in this video from “Vizionary Villainz,” which is accompanied by this description:
Set in a summer day in the hills of a private mansion. Aldon Smith, San Francisco 49er and defensive rookie of the year hosted this amazing party along with the collaboration of Vizionary Villainz.
Take a peak of what starts as a summer photo shoot and pool party and gets turnt up after the sun leaves. You will recognize many of your favorite 49er players and see a glimpse of some upcoming rookies recently signed from the 2012 NFL draft.
Enjoy the scenary and the video as Vizionary Villainz collaborates with one of the best and most recognized NFL franchises in the league.
49ers featured in the video (which shows no drug use of any kind) include Kourtnei Brown, Brian Tyms, Michael Thomas and Nathan Palmer.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Miami Beach in January, with his blood alcohol level testing at .194 and .176. In his rookie year as a situational pass rusher, Smith accumulated 14 sacks. In his second season, the 49ers are hoping the No. 7 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft will become a starter at outside linebacker.

JPN double o 1's comments were really not necessary. However, I would recommend Aldon Smith hire a psychologist that could help to develop Smith's frontal lobe. LOL. Hopefully that psychologist could retain the killer instinct in Smith while retarding the party animal side.
I find myself on Stan's side. He gets a bit hyped up and I like it. That the video was not shot on the same date as the incident took place means nothing to me. I find myself taking issue with the fact that a rookie bought a house that looks like a 10 million dollar house. Hear me out. Tim Lincecum (who has his own issues) has always rented in this area and never bought a house. Other young players share housing in this area. We always hear about a player being a roommate with another player. On the other hand, in his first year, Aldon Smith bought a home for a minimum of 3 mil (just looking at the video and the fact it is described as a mansion, but likely is at least a 10 million dollar home) when he doesn't know if he will be in the NFL 5 years from now. That is the biggest lapse of judgement that I see. It makes me think that even if he does have a great career, that he may be bankrupt 15 years from now. What does that have to do with the main issue? Everything. The lack of judgement in the home purchase extends to other areas of his life that are coming to the forefront now. I loved the quote from Stan that Smith would drive by you on the road if you were broken down because you can not afford a Bentley. LOL. To me, he seems to be one of the more reckless in pro sports when you add the DUI that apparently he escaped charges for (I also had a DUI at about the same Blood Alc Level and yeah I was f*ed up but I did not escape charges for it) and the stabbing/ shooting incident. Stan's viewpoint is that when these incidents happen, we never know if someone will have a life threatening injury. Anything can happen. Luckily, there was no stray bullet. Luckily, no one was killed. Luckily, neither Smith nor myself hit and killed someone. The other issue is the production Smith gave to our Niners. He was a beast in his rookie year. When a player has to tone down his personal life, it can affect his professional life. He may not have the same drive to kick ass on the football field if he is not getting balls deep in hoochie every night. He may not give all he has when he doesn't get to be lit up on his fave mind altering substance every weekend (or Sunday or Monday nite for football players). This is a risk. Some of the best performers have character flaws. Managing this may be Jim Harbaugh's biggest test in his career. This is a major problem for our Niners. Look at the undrafted free agents that showed up for the party and thought they were the SH*T. What does this do for team morale? "The beatings will continue until team morale improves" LOL
this video is not related to his house party that just happened recently, this video was shot months ago
All I see is a party that needs some security. Dude can hang out all he wants - no smoking and very little drinking though. He can nail all the trim he wants. Nothing illegal about that.
Nope, party hardy and wear a condom. I'm all for that. And blonds.
If anyone were to do a modicum of research rather than just reacting to a linguistic trigger (i.e. “Villainz”), one would find that Visionary Villainz is a clothing company and that Aldon Smith’s involvement with this “crew” is with respect to his endorsement of the clothing line. In other words, the evidence tends to suggest that Smith’s association with the “offending” group, as well as the above referenced video and the party posted therein, is a business association. Further, there is no evidence released to date that indicates that Visionary Villainz was involved in any way with the party that was reputably out of control on Friday night. What we have here is a situation in which a blogger is associating a video of a controlled party (that is part of a business relationship) with an out of control party (that seems to have nothing to do with the business relationship) and thereby implying that the two stand in some relation. This in turn gives voice to those who like to try to mask their prejudice as logic by citing facts before expressing their internally motivated opinions. However, facts + a conclusion do not = logic unless the conclusion is motivated by the facts. Here, most of the conclusions expressed are motivated by the beliefs of the individuals involved, not by the facts taken collectively and objectively. For example, it is a logical conclusion to state that the dangers associated with a DWI are sufficient to show that engaging in the proscribed behavior constitutes a serious lack of judgment. It is an internally motivated opinion (i.e. a belief) and not logic to claim that engaging in the proscribed behavior makes the offender a bad person and warrants his removal from his profession when his profession is unrelated to the proscribed behavior. Taken collectively and objectively, the facts (DWI, party (or parties) getting out of the host’s control) show a lack of judgment that Smith’s employers would be wise to address. However, the lack of judgment Smith has evinced to date is in keeping with various studies of cognitive development of young adults. These studies show that frontal lobe development continues into the early to mid twenties, and that we are likely to make the worst judgments of our lives from between the ages of 12 and 23 (from when we start to individuate from our parents and rebel against their guidance to when we cognitively mature). While we do hold adults responsible for their own behavior, even the courts (in recognition of their ongoing cognitive development ) are beginning to address remedies that are designed to aid younger adults (if possible) rather than just punishing them. And so we should do here, as well. Instead of wishing Smith a short career and a ruined life, it would be the more responsible, and enlightened, course to encourage his employer to give him tools to aid his judgment until he matures beyond the need for such aid.
Nobody wished him a short career or ruined life..those were words KC attempted to ascribe to me. For being against drunk driving and really against stabbings and shootings. I do not waver. And..you leave out Smith is no regular 22 year old..I'm sure the 49ers could have found him a reliable taxi or security service..and not Aldon playing Russian Roulette with his friends and strangers on the road Btw,If he does get into even bigger trouble-will you say "He's only 23"..where does that end?
Cognitively, he likely is a regular 22 year old, or at the least that would be the logical presumption until evidence shows otherwise. Further, you seem to be engaging in the logical fallacy of “composition”, in which the proponent of the conclusion attributes a characteristic of a part to the whole. Here, because Smith is not an ordinary 22 year old with respect to his NFL status and physical abilities, you seem to be concluding that in all things he is not a regular 22 year old. There is no evidence that his physical gifts make him more or less than a regular 22 year old in other contexts. As to where it ends, that is individual to each person, but by the mid-twenties, the vast majority of people have sufficiently developed frontal lobes to be cognitively mature and to make better judgments. Also, part of cognitive development is learning from past experiences. So, I would say if he continues to show similar or increasing bad judgment over the next year or two, we can make more informed conclusions as to flaws in his character. Conversely, if he makes increasingly better judgments over the next year or two, we can draw conclusions that youth and immaturity was the root of his current problems. Finally, not to be rude, but many of your posts above engage in another logical fallacy -- "appeal to fear" (also known as "argumentum in terrorem"), in which the proponent supports his/her conclusion not with evidence but by instilling fear that some worse situation could arise and that agreeing with the conclusion will avert the impending doom. It is one thing to be “real”, it is another to wrap fear mongering in the raiment of logic.
Your doubletalk might be fun to write KC. But at the heart of it, stabbings,people-several-shot,and drunk driving. I'm not sure why you feel compelled to rationalize that behavior. Do you even know why? Is there some admiration in that behavior in you?
Wait,I can hear it now. "I'm Aldon Smith and I'm only 22 years and 6 months old"..and then starts flashing fingers...as the carnage is behind him.
Couple more things: 1) Anyone with a Flip Video cam and a macbook could make that movie. 2) Despite the limited roster space, I had high hopes for a couple of those UDFAs (and Dixon too)...good luck getting any reps in camp now after the coaches see this video. However, I understand that theyre 22, cant workout/study 14 hours a day, and this may be their only chance to "live the life" before getting stuck playing for the Allen Wranglers or Montreal Alouettes...besides theres no proof that they were overindulging. Plus this video was shot at least a month ago, which was likely before the Rookie Symposium.
When a bullet from a Aldon Smith party goes across the street and hits a baby...KC can then say that was just a growing experience for Aldon. Go to hell KC.,.you picked the wrong person to pull your bullshit on.
I'm not one to jump on the hate stan bandwagon, but you're really earning it on this one. Dude, quit hating and take a chill pill. Good for you that you never screwed up when you were a kid, if only we all could have been like you. Saying he's young, stupid and made a mistake does not equate to saying it was okay to do it.
Somebody has to be the adult here. how many mistakes I made dont mean squat..or that he's 22. He drives drunk,he wants to be a gangsta...and he got stuck for it. If he's dumb,-he laughs it off and shows off the scar..or he learns if he's smart..or smart enough. This whole celebrity idol you younger guys fall for..living vicariously through Aldon and his party's..I get it. Somebody here though has to be real. That's me.
Great find on the video, BASG...Fooch linked to this on NN and someone commented on Maiocco's story with this link. None of the other beat writers seemed to find/post this...Jed and co mightve nipped it in the bud before they could. This is the kind of independent reporting bloggers make their mark for. As far as the video goes, seems a little pathetic of Aldon to befriend these no-name "Villanz" and let them take over his house in exchange for average looking girls and bbq. All that for a little internet fame that is now backfiring. East SJ is full of fake thugs and hoodrats...stick to what the vets do and troll the Santana Row bars for pu--y
Eric Davis-always the apologist for the local Athletes tries to give me the KC spiel "Aldon Didn't know trouble was invited".."He wasn't fighting "..SHUDDUP Eric!...Smith spent a small fortune for home, booze and entertainment I bet...so why not shell out a few hundred for security? Aldon Saith is a multimillionaire...but wont spend for safety?...He wont call a taxi?..just get on the road double the drunk bastard limit? If you want to be a Villanz..your almost there Aldon baby.
I am sure Harbaugh showed up later at the party, thus why he wasnt in the video.
Will Chronicle tell this (out of control parties at Aldon Smith's home) story? Hell will freeze-over before we hear a controversial story about the 49ers in the Chronicle sports section. Clam up.
What I see KC is somebody who DOES have that better life..and has no appreciation at all..even risking the lives of others with drunk driving..EXTREME drunk driving. Most college kids DON'T drunk drive. I guess we differ on life experiences don't we? Unlike you KC,I'm not waiting until he runs over a grandmother and two children to be angry. I know stupid, risky behavior before it kills somebody when I see it..
Yes, Stan, it is apparent that we do differ on life experiences. I have experienced quite a lot and it has shaped me into the person I am today. I would not have an MBA and be the leader I am today without some of the failures I experienced when I was young. I am just glad that the people that have influenced my life did not rush to judgement on my character when I made those mistakes. Kudos to you. You still never addressed the fact that you wished someone would have his career ruined. Stop trying to skirt the questions I asked you. Well, maybe you should, since you can't seem to answer them effectively.
No,I said he he never played another down in the NFL..I wouldn't care. And I if he doesn't care now,.why should I ? And,I guess my wish that somebody who was done wrong in life should be there to have something good when another throws his chance away-while possibly taking innocents with him-Is a wish. Deal with it. Your loony KC if you want to portray a multimillionaire drunk driving man who wants to be known as a Villanz..as a poor downtrodden teen?. Nutz to that. And I know quite a few people with no family money who became MBA's..and never used it as an excuse to endanger other people when they were young. Your another who wants a pat on the back for normal human behavior. Give me an Award- I never shot anybody!
Stan, let me quote you "It would be just too fair of life if Aldon ruined his own career." That, is hating. It is wishing misfortune on someone. I love how you automatically assume that Aldon would just drive by me if I was on the side of the road. He may or may not, but apparently to you, he would ignore me. Why do you bring up him judging me for not driving a Bentley? Really? You know what Aldon thinks about other people? Please, tell me how you attained such intimate knowledge. You sound like someone bitter and jealous because another person has it better than you. He is young. 22 years old is young. Most kids are still in college, going to house parties and driving drunk at that age. So that is why I am not going to wish a ruined life on him because he made some very stupid mistakes. I even said that he deserves a lot of criticism.. The only reason why I know who Mark Jackson is because you brought him up in this post. I had to google his name. I don't watch basketball and then you tried to put words in my mouth about someone I don't even know, which is a perfect example of your flawed thought process. Aldon deserves some punishment and a lot of criticism, but NO, I do not wish a ruined life on him. I hope he learns from this and becomes a better person.
Sounds more like a Raiders player.
Clearly you haven't been following the 49ers or the NFL as of late.
Why do you hate so much, Stan? I follow this blog pretty frequently and rarely post. You, on the other hand, post so much garbage that you must be on some sort of stupidity crusade. You judge a lot and those who are quick to judge tend to have low intelligence. Apparently, you never had a social life before. You think Aldon is that different from the majority of 22 year olds? If you don't, then you definitely never had a social life. He's a kid and kids make mistakes. Aldon deserves a lot of criticism, but I do not wish bad things on him. Put your pitchfork away, yokel.
Stan does the same thing on the 415 Media blog. He dominates the blog with his repetitive, angry posting. He seems to feel that the world is fascinated by what he has to say but probably these blogs are the only place where he can get attention. By hijacking the blog he forces others to notice him and gets gratification regardless of how they respond.
He's a kid? Like his paycheck goes to his parents? Or is he man...tell me,what is he? Maybe in your world at 22 you shouldn't have to obey rules...those are for others. At least the 49ers didn't pull the Lacob "We stand behind our man 100%"..that just reaks of entitled..rich mans morals. Anytime KC, I post something wrong and untrue...you prove it. I live to learn.
Stan, please pay not attention tho those haters, You are so on point with your analysis and I love reading your stuff. Keep it up.
Funny that Stan imagines he is backing up his words with logic and proof. He seems incapable of getting beyond the pathology of his internal delusions.
Thanks Elvis..they keep after me..but they aren't backing up their words with any logic or proof. I do.
Drunk driving and out of control party's that-obviously- are putting people's lives at stake?..Yeah,I'm against that. I cant believe the stupidity level that people tolerate for sports stars that would drive past your broken down heap in a thunderstorm. Hell,Aldon would laugh at you for not having a Bentley. Ah,and let me guess..you think Mark Jackson is truly sorry? Truly sorry he got caught.
"Where's all the White women at?"
It would be just too fair of life if Aldon ruined his own career and that kid who spent 10 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, took Smith's place.
If I am HarBalke, I am going to get a bit harsh with the non roster rooks. I am going to get A. Smith a baby sitter, or move his Moms out to sit on him. This is not NOT COOL. &^%&%$$#&%$^%& pool party #(*)$#)(*$#$* on the youtubes *(^*^*^*^*^(^8979876 kid,,,,, what is he thinking,,, oh,, kids don't think much do they, I know I didn't, hehehehe, This needs to not ever happen again PERIOD, or Justin effin Smith will be camping out around your pool son. How about a Ronnie, Jerry, Irvin, L. Taylor intervention and beat down? boys will be boys, fine,, knives,,, guns,, cameras????? NO
There is no way that an NFL player having his party posted on YouTube, by a crew calling themselves Villainz no less, is acceptable. The team, hopefully not the league, needs to get on this NOW. Send Ronnie and Jerry over to show the kid how to party in privacy with some reminders from Mr. Effin Irvin from Dallas. Maybe some PRIVATE party tapes from Zito's house featuring The Machine would get through to him. I think you all are being a bit mild about what a mess this IS and how to deal with it. Get this mighty kid under a strong wing right the eff now, for the good of us all.
First of all, the vid is on vimeo, not youtube, but that's really immaterial. It's not some random video, its obviously some kind of promotional material for this company, Visionary Villainz, whatever they do. Seems like they spent some money on it, as it looks fairly professional. Really not that big of a deal. Second, I read this morning that he was breaking up a fight. If this is true, then it would appear that its not as if he was out there looking to cause trouble. Just trying to play peacemaker. And we don't really know the details of how it went down. Probably should do that before you start skewering the guy. Glad that he's ok. Does this guy need to use better judgement? Yes. If your having a party and you're a public figure, you better be aware of any sketchy people coming to your house. When there's over 100 people there, that's hard to do. But still, get it done. In reality, the guy is 21 years old and rich, he is going to throw parties and have fun, and he has a right to enjoy himself. But, be smart about it. And don't let it affect your focus and dedication to the team. Bottom line, he's along way from becoming Michael Irvin or Pacman Jones.
It's his life to fwck up. It would be a shame if he turns out to be a headcase crazy party dogg. I can't say it would be easy for me to be a 21 year old millionaire and stay out of trouble. Like I said, it's his life, but as a fan, it would suck to see him blow his potential.
Aldon HAS the potential to be a 20 sack defensive player of the year type...These TWO incidents show he has much to learn and grow...He is sooooo lucky it wasnt worse, and he needs to tone it down fior his own career longevity and general safety...The video clearly shows a situation that has the potential to get out of hand very quickly with the amount of partiers...It just shows a lack of maturity and common sense...Aldon needs to suspended, it may be the only way to punish him where it hurts, even though selfishly i want him for every game for our Niners. But, if he doesn't get the message soon, he may get hurt much worse or Goodell may suspend him longer...I agree multimillionare star 21 year olds feel invinsible, but the team has to nip this ijn the bud NOW... Lastly, i love how some of the "Niners" in the video are rookies that even diehard fans may barely recognize, and they are basically acting like they made the team already and they are in a rap video explaining who they are...its almost comical, and it is not a shot on rap music as i love rap music! Its just the way these guys described who they were was just funny thats all! btw when will these guys get a clue, be humble and lay low, it goes a long way when you do make a mistake...otherwise you simplty look ridiculous...Aldon please get it together you have the ability of a young jevon kearse dontwaste it and be a pac man type!
Sounds like his attempt to stay out of trouble by partying at home isn't working out. I think the real problem is who he is choosing to allow to his parties and into his inner circle. Aldon Smith isn't unlike the vast majority of people who are in their early 20s and like to have fun, aside from the fact that he's AB incredible athlete with millions of dollars at his disposal. He needs to be a lot more selective with who he spends his social time with and probably could use a little guidance and leadership from a veteran team leader.
What is going on with Bay Area linebackers and stupid decisions?
Role model - Ray Lewis? In the last year enough stuff has happened in football, on/off the field that has me concerned it will burn itself out and become boxing - which back, back , back in the day was king.
As long as they continue to preform- I could care less what Pros do in there spare time. He should have security- and obviously shouldn't be getting stabbed. But he can bang all the chicks he wants, smoke all the weed he wants and drink all he wants- as long as he shows up on Sunday (or Monday night). The second he starts to slip- he needs to be told not to do that. He needs to watch who he hangs out with- but he also doesn't claim to be a role-model or speak of his "high moral character"- unlike a certain Warriors head coach who apparently has problems with his penis. Anthony Dixon should not be there- how about you get a 1st down on 3rd and short before you reach for the Ciroc bro. Looks like the Rookies skipped the "you shouldn't do that kind of stuff" meeting. Pros party hard. Don't get stabbed. End rant.
Publicly misbehaving is hugely not performing. Getting stabbed and having your party posted on YouTube is really damaging to himself, and the team. So, by you standard, he needs to be spoken to and dealt with. I cannot imagine this being pleasant behind the closed doors of NinerLand. This is hugely embarrassing to the team and the fans (give less a turd about the fans, OK) I do not want to ever hear again about A. Smith's activities off the field beyond hospitals and handicapped children.
I don't really care what they do in their own lives either, as long as it isn't putting anyone else in danger. Obviously, this wasn't the case either time with Smith. I can almost promise that this violence, if drug related, wasn't "chronic" related. It was probably the booger sugar. That stuff makes peoples moods shift QUICK! Just stay away from the bath salts Aldon. Don't need any faces getting eaten off.
Huh,I don't feel a thing of sorrow for him..I guess cause he's a "Villanz" If he never played another down in the NFL..so what?
If he never played another down in the NFL so what? Are you freaking kidding me? This dude is a beast. He would be a HUGE loss, the Niners are a DEEP team- but Aldon Smith is not Scott Cousins. Really stupid comment. I know you like to comment a lot stan... but your comment shows that you know about as much about football as Grant Cohn. Adults party and as long as he isn't getting stabbed... who gives shit?
I know people...and when he was drunk driving near little kids...you said -wow! he's a beast that I admire! And that he was doing his best to create problems at his own home..some neighbor. A 12 year old's mentality with a millionaire checkbook. But ...you do have the NFL's view on life..as long as miscreants don't act up where the owners live...its ok to run wild for their commodity's entertainment. I myself am tired of reading it.
