My friend David Fucillo (a man who’s so active on Twitter that he recently set up a separate account called @NNonthelam to use when he gets thrown in Twitter jail during 49ers games) posted this yesterday:

Wait, who? Kevin Burkhardt? John Lynch was the longtime Bucs safety who went to Stanford, and I’m guessing Molly McGrath is a blond sideline reporter (checks Google … yep). But Burkhardt is a mystery.

That got me thinking about the best and worst announcing teams of today, and that’s going to be our third and final contest question of the week. Details at the bottom of this post, but first let’s check out who we have to choose from.

We’ve got two in Lower East Section 47 (face value: $74 each), along with a free Large Pizza (any toppings) from Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria. The first two contest posts:

Enter the contest in this post by answering the following question:

What is the best NFL announcing team?

You can also mention which announcing team is the worst if you prefer. I’m sure we’ll get a lot of Joe Buck hatred in the comments today, even though he’s a pretty capable football announcer (as a baseball broadcaster … he’s not as impressive).

Even though I poked a little fun at Cris Collinsworth recently, the Michaels/Collinsworth/Tafoya team is still probably my favorite. Michaels’ voice gives you that “Pat Summerall” feeling, like the game you’re watching is somehow bigger or more special than others; Collinsworth isn’t perfect but he points out things I wouldn’t notice and he’s never boring; Tafoya is a rare sideline reporter who adds to the broadcast.

Fox makes it extremely difficult to choose the worst team, with several worthy/unworthy candidates. I guess I’d rank my bottom three as follows:

  1. Myers and Ryan (Myers is corpse-like, plus his “topical” jokes are THE WORST)
  2. Albert, Johnston and Siragusa (sometimes Moose is even more insufferable than Goose)
  3. Brennaman and Billick (smug and smugger)

What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments and you can win free Niners tickets and Amici’s pizza! Remember, all comments/entries must get posted by 10 pm tonight.
