The Golden State roster shrunk a bit Wednesday, and could shrink even more if things go badly for Andris Biedrins.
Dorell Wright traded to Philladelphia 76ers
![]()
UPDATE: The Warriors will instead receive Jarret Jack to backup Stephen Curry at point guard from the Hornets, rather than Edin Bavcic, as was previously reported.
The deal is still in the works, but it looks like the Warriors will address their need for a backup point guard by trading Dorell Wright.
Wright (and his $4.1 million salary) is still headed to the 76ers, it looks like.
Wright has been the subject of trade discussion for much of the off-season, and rightfully so with a tremendous amount of small forwards on the roster.
It remains to be seen what the Warriors will do with the extra money, but after adding a point guard in the deal it’s anyone’s guess, although General Manager Bob Meyers is ready to sign someone.
Andris Biedrins could be facing jail time
However, with recent news about Andris Biedrins emerging, a big man may be needed next season.
It was reported Tuesday that Biedrins may be facing up to five years in prison for tax evasion charges in his home country of Latvia.
Whether Biedrins and the two others under investigation are convicted is anyone’s guess, but this could have an impact on the Warriors’ plans moving forward.

If Biendrins is smart, he'll just pay off what he owes. But if he somewhat is found guilty and gets "arrested" (not likely), could the Warriors void his contract? I don't want to see this kind of thing happen to anyone but Biendrins intentionally did this, he should pay the consequences.
The only thing biedrins should be in prison for is stealing money from warrior fans
All those Steve Moscowitz ads and Beans couldnt even bother to call him once???
That would be funny, when clearly Biedrins should be arrested for a lack of scoring and rebounding and playing basketball at an NBA level. Grand theft, clearly.
Biedrins wow he provably has spent that on showgirls and clubs in 1 night! Why doesn't he just drop down another 25G and hire a psychologist/free throw coach?
As far as Beidrins goes, you hate to make fun of him because of his tax issues which of course is personal, but dang. Unbelievable. Even though I don't like Beidrins and wish the Warriors could just get rid of him, I hope nothing but the best for him in the result of this tax evasion stuff. That would suck for him if he has to do jail time.

I'm going to miss Dorell Wright, even though him being traded this offseason was expected. Dorell was a good Warrior, and he was good in the community as Chris Townsend alluted to yesterday. I like this trade better now, now that it turned into a 3-way trade between the Warriors, the Sixers, and the Hornets. This trade works out for the Warriors and the Sixers since the Warriors get rid of Dorell's contract and open up a spot for Harrison Barnes to be the starting SF, unless Rush takes that role should the Warriors re-sign him., or the Warriors can sign or trade for a better starting SF than Dorell Wright. The works out for Dorell, because he will probably have a role more suited for him on the Sixers. He was a good starting SF here with the Warriors, even though he wasn't as good this past season, but he's probably more of a backup SF ideally, and with the Sixers, I'm sure he will be the backup SF to Igoudala, unless they trade Igoudala. Dorell can give them some defense and be a 3 pt. shooting threat from off the bench. This also works out for the Warriors because they also get a decent backup PG in Jarrett Jack. I guess that player from Bosnia won't be coming to the states, so that kind of sucks for the Hornets, but this 3-way trade was probably just a salary dump trade for the Warriors, even though it's turned into a shrewd move with the Warriors getting Jarrett Jack in return. The Warriors needed a backup PG who can start in a pinch just in case Curry (*knock on wood*) has ankle issues again next season. Plus, this takes pressure off of Jenkins to do that, even though he played well filling in for Curry this past season. I guess this probably means that Nate Robinson isn't coming back. The Warriors now have a decent guard rotation in Curry, Thompson, Jenkins, and now Jarrett Jack. I'll take that!
Does Latvian Jail have a tanning booth?
Its not a guy over seas we traded for..Its Jarrett Jack
The original post was written before the new deal was reported. Updated now.
I agree Stan, it's a ridiculous that no one is saying a thing. Funny though, Biedrins is like a GOD in Latvia, and they still might throw him in jail- where as our athletes (and celebrities) most of the time can just go about their business without so much as a slap on the wrist- and they say capitalism is dead.
What kind of country is Latvia where you can't buy your way out of a tax debt?
No mention of Beidrens on KNBR that I've heard. Or Jackson.. NO such luck Beidrens will go to jail..its only $25,000 he owes,,what he carries in his money clip, chump change to a chump.
Warriors fans prayers would be answered...Team Government of Latvia!
