There hasn’t been much Super Bowl buzz in San Francisco (yet), but I’m guessing buzzed San Franciscans could’ve been responsible for at least some of the creative vandalism we’re seeing with the Super Bowl 50 statues. And with each day, the level of defacement gets raised a little bit.
1. “SUP BRO”
Locals generally don’t even use this phrase, because “bro” is considered a bad word by some (especially when it follows the word “tech”), but everyone I’ve talked to thinks this was hilarious.
This is sooo San Francisco, I’m not even mad. RT @SFGate #SB50 Signs Vandalized https://t.co/MtmOCXjH1q #SuperbOwl pic.twitter.com/crBquE7dLw

2. “SUPERB OWL”
This statue is located in Alamo Square Park, which is a half-block away from my apartment.

3. “OOPS”
“SUPERB OWL” is almost quaint compared to what my wife saw when she walked through the park this morning.
Now that people are knocking them over, the next step for vandals could be to set one of these things on fire. Maybe it’s time to admit when an idea doesn’t work, and take the statues away before anyone creates a “P0O” statue, complete with … you get the idea.
Update: The statue on Twin Peaks was changed to “UP R BOWEL.”
