San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy is pretty busy these days. He’s mixing and matching in the bullpen and on the field as the Giants deal with a rash of injuries, he and the team just arrived in San Francisco early this morning after flying across the country through the night, and the Giants don’t have a day off for another 10 days.
On Wednesday, Bochy’s Giants will attempt to win the final battle of a three-game set against the San Diego Padres during the afternoon, and after the game he and his wife will keep themselves busy off the field. Bochy may be dealing with a full plate, but in this case your full plate at Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria will raise money for a cause that’s near and dear to the Bochys.
Amici’s will donate 100% of sales from 3pm – closing on Wednesday at their King Street and Lombard Street locations to the San Francisco Homeless Prenatal Program. The SF-based maternity wear stores Mom’s The Word are also participating and will be donating Baby Carriers.
Bruce and Kim will spend time at both locations during the evening (approximately an hour at each between 5:30 and 8:00pm). There will also be a raffle, with prizes including signed Giants memorabilia and a grand prize of Bruce’s four personal seats to the Giants 8/21 game vs the Red Sox along with a $100 Amici’s gift certificate.
Come One, Come All!
My wife and I will be at Amici’s on King Street on Wednesday evening, along with Carmen “Giants Gamer Babe” Kiew and Kyle “Ruthless Sports Guy” McLorg, so come on down and join us! If you’re already planning on attending Wednesday afternoon’s game, walking a half-block to Amici’s afterward is pretty much a no-brainer with so much going on.
Just so there’s no confusion — whether you go to the Amici’s on King Street or Lombard Street, you’ll still have a chance to win raffle prizes, see the Bochys* and donate to a great cause simply by ordering Amici’s pizza, pasta, salads and drinks.
*Some other Giants coaches will be there, along with some of the players wives. (It’s possible some of their husbands might make surprise appearances … shhhhhh, no one’s supposed to know that and I can’t promise anything specific — but the rumors are circulating.)
Since we’re on the subject of Amici’s, a quick congratulations are in order to ReggieWrite, Beaver and akamikedavid, who each won a free large pizza from Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria for commenting in our three contest posts from last week. And a huge thanks to everyone who let us know their thoughts on Brian Wilson possibly returning to the Giants, the best sports talk radio shows from noon-to-3, and whether or not Tim Lincecum would come up with a quality start last night (he did, although it wasn’t enough). I ALWAYS appreciate the great responses provided by the readers on these contest posts (or any posts, really); hopefully I’ll get to meet a few of you on Wednesday night at Amici’s on King Street.
