Suddenly the Oakland A’s seem like a different team. It’s only one Spring Training game, but for most people that’s all they have to go on with Yoenis Cespedes — besides that amazing, ridiculous promotional video.
Cespedes started off with a 6-pitch walk, singled in his second plate appearance and fouled off several pitches before crushing a home run to left in his third.
Check it out. Impressive, to say the least.

We’re working with a very small sample size (thank you, Capt. Obvious) … but if Cespedes is legit the Athletics may have a Ricky Rubio situation on their hands (without the torn ACL, hopefully). Cespedes is big, strong and fast. He’s also totally new and has talent to spare. Will he sell tickets in Oakland? The early returns look promising.

I've never liked the argument that the Giants should have tried to sign Cespedes. Bochy seems set on having Pagan, Cabrera, and SCheierholtz as his starting outfield with maybe belt & huff being backups. Everyone seems to forget that Cespedes is still a $36million risk. A guy who has not played in the minors and has to adjust to a new language, a new country, a new league, a new coaching staff, and well you get the point. Also, remember that the Giants have Gary Brown who in many publications, is ranked HIGHER than Cespedes. All of the Cespedes attention has shifted the focus away from Gary Brown and his spring training.
Oh man,I thought I was watching a young Barry Bonds. What I also like,is that he has a classic-like Barry- power hitters stance. None of that make's no sense Brandon Belt squat,Kevin Youklis dainty on his toe, bat held weirdly high,or of course Rowand's batting stance for idiots.
LOL... Yeah, Cespedes does have a power hitters stance, and the guy just looks like a power hitter. As Gary would say, he looks like something. LOL. But yeah, Cespedes could be the real deal. We'll see. What a way to start off your Cactus League and unofficial ML debut. Where were the Giants on Cespedes? Yeah, they didn't want him, and yeah, Cespedes is unproven, but the Giants could use a potential power bat like that. Cespedes would look nice batting 4th or 5th for the Giants. Plus, he would take some pressure off of Pablo, Posey, and Huff, and maybe even Cabrera in the lineup. A's fans should enjoy Cespedes and hope he stays.
Who knows this guy could be legit, at-least this is more fun talking about A's Baseball instead of there desire to move to San Jose. Oh wait I just came to my senses Beane will probably trade him by opening day.
Hope springs eternal...especially in the spring.
