95.7 The Game promotes Dan Dibley to morning show

I received a press release from the local FM sports talk station that made me smile this morning. Dan Dibley will be a permanent addition to the morning show, where he’ll join Joe Fortenbaugh and Lorenzo Neal.
I’m probably a little biased, since I consider Dibley a friend and he was one of our best BASGcast guests (yes, we’re working on getting our podcast up and running — hopefully that’ll happen soon). But he’s also a guy who’s worked hard for years and deserved a break as much as anyone in the cutthroat radio industry.
Most of the readers probably remember when Dibley was on KNBR (most notably as the update anchor who also served as a comic foil for Gary Radnich). Then he jumped ship to 95.7 at the very beginning of that station’s transition to sports talk. He had a significant role in the Rise Guys morning show, among other duties. Then the Rise Guys was canceled in March of 2014 when they hired Damon Bruce, and Dibley was out of the sports talk business for a bit (other than some appearances on CSN).
I was on Sports Talk Live with him a couple of times, and I remember Dibley telling me about several jobs he had, as he reported traffic from a helicopter for KCBS and even drove for Uber. He also took home $4,000 on Wheel of Fortune in 2014.
Eventually he worked his way back on 95.7, and I thought there was a chance he might become Greg Papa’s permanent co-host … until today’s announcement. Dibley replaces Chad Doing, who left the station along with John Middlekauff and Guy Haberman as 95.7 made room for J.T. The Brick.
