TMZ spends a lot of time reporting on things that don’t matter, but occasionally frivolous “news” items can still provide enjoyment. Case in point: they brought us a fantastic report (and video) from CenturyLink Field that had nothing to do with the Seahawks’ inevitable march to a second straight Super Bowl win (sorry, but you know it’s true).
Draymond Green, who attended the game with noted Carolina Panthers fan Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha, was caught on video (poor quality vertical cellphone video, ugh) tossing something at a Seahawks fan near the end of Seattle’s win over Carolina.
TMZ provides some background info, but it’s not really necessary. The people who booked the suite root for the Panthers, and Seahawks fans follow the lead of their mascot — they enjoy pecking at those who don’t root for the Seahawks. They can’t just be happy winning titles and tattooing “1” and “2” on their forearms. If you tweet something negative about the Seahawks, some guy named @ImA12GoHAWKS will build a nest in your mentions and won’t move until he’s blocked. Now that I think about it, there’s a pretty good chance some Seahawks fan will take offense to this post and leave some twerpy comment punctuated with “#GoHawks.”
Anyway, here’s the video (it’s not coming up on mobile devices for some reason, so you’ll have to click the link in the first paragraph if you’re reading this on a phone). It looked like Ayesha was pissed and Green came to her defense by chucking something from their luxury suite spread.
Since it’s a slow news day other than the NFL playoff games, this story blew up and Green responded.
Lol people know they blow stuff out of proportion…. It was 4 GRAPES!!!! And btw I’m not a Panthers fan idc that they lost!!!

This story is awesome for five reasons.
1. As if Green wasn’t already the most popular guy in the Bay Area, he unwittingly referenced a well-known rap single from 2005 by Nump (feat. E-40 and The Federation).
2. Green’s timing was perfect:
Finding it hard to do sports talk on the Warriors- too good, nothing to criticize…

If being in “in love with the CoCo” wasn’t enough to convince the world that their locker room isn’t full of choir boys, this might sway G-Rad and others to start talking about the Warriors (who won their sixth straight game by 13+ on Friday night, btw).
3. Stephen Curry knew what he was doing.
Steph: “I’ll be sitting with the 12th man this weekend.” TT: “No we need you safe.” Steph: “I’ll bring Draymond with me, I’ll be just fine.”

4. It’s not like he’ll need to worry about a violent reaction from Sonics fans the next time Golden State travels to Seattle, because, well, you know …
5. Hey 12s, you had it coming.
