Just saw this on Awful Announcing: Erin Coscarelli, who joined CSN Bay Area last May, is now with NFL Network. Coscarelli and Rhett Lewis will join the team at “NFL AM,” the network’s daily morning show filmed in Los Angeles. The new co-hosts start next week.
Former 49ers cornerback Eric Davis left 95.7 The Game for “NFL AM” two years ago, when the show debuted.
NFL AM Executive Producer Jeremy Louwerse told Awful Announcing about Coscarelli, “She reminds us a lot of Kelly Ripa here. A Kelly Ripa with a really strong football knowledge.”
The story caught me by surprise, and then I realized I hadn’t seen Coscarelli around in a while — either at the CSN Bay Area studios or any recent 49ers, Warriors or Giants gatherings. And since we’re on the subject of NFL stuff, I can’t help but recall a couple memorable moments from our brief time working together in Santa Clara.
On the first day that Ruthless Sports Guy came with me to cover a 49ers training camp practice, Coscarelli joined us at an outside table in front of the 49ers dining hall where we ate lunch. In the middle of making a point, Ruthless waved his hand sharply and knocked his full glass of lemonade over onto the table. We all had trays, so it’s not like Coscarelli or anyone else had their food soaked, the spill was still pretty funny (sorry, Kyle!).
The other story is one I didn’t see firsthand, but apparently Coscarelli decided to do a cartwheel in the middle of the 49ers’ cramped media trailer earlier that week. Matt Barrows and Cam Inman escaped without suffering any injuries, and “professional cartwheeler” has been a part of Coscarelli’s Twitter bio ever since.
