The Giants have had a few guys over the years that you didn’t want to tangle with in a brawl. In the late ’80’s, it was Candy Maldonado, Kevin Mitchell and Dusty Baker. In the ’90’s, it was Glenallen Hill and Dusty Baker. In the 2000’s, it was Dusty Baker. In 2010, it was Juan Uribe, and in 2011, that guy is Pablo Sandoval.
The Giants and Phillies played baseball and enjoyed a little scuffle on Friday night. Shane Victorino got hit in the back soon after Jimmy Rollins stole second with a 6-run lead (unwritten rules!), Victorino pretended to want to fight, and I swore I heard Mills Lane yell, “Let’s get it on!” Next thing you know, Eli Whiteside does his best impression of a middle linebacker on Placido Polanco (who was doing his best Jose Oquendo impression) and the basebrawl was on.
Most of the skirmish was indecipherable, except for the Panda, who did his impersonation of a mama grizzly on Carlos Ruiz.
Will a suspension come Sandoval’s way? No matter what, it won’t be anything compared to what’s coming to Tony Bruno. Stay tuned…
