Getting word about some possible massive chaos in the 49ers front office. Massive.

According to @SoCaliSteph, Jim Tomsula didn’t come to work on Wednesday. An NFL coach not showing up to the facility four days before a game is unheard of, but that’s apparently what happened. Tomsula was originally scheduled to speak to the local media on Wednesday at 10:30 am.
That didn’t happen.
On Wednesday, the schedule was changed and Tomsula’s mid-week press conference was moved to Thursday at 10:30 am. Local media was told that Tomsula was absent due to a family matter. Was Tomsula’s absence was due to a disagreement with Paraag Marathe? It’s hard to say, but things are going insane in Santa Clara.
Here’s what happened with Marathe:
Source: Paraag Marathe is being reassigned from president of the 49ers. He’ll still be team’s cap guy and lead contract negotiator. — Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoCSN) December 4, 2015
If this was indeed a situation that pitted Tomsula against Marathe, it looks like Tomsula won.
A league source indicated that executive Al Guido is likely to take on many of Marathe’s administrative responsibilities…

It seemed like Marathe had all of the power in Santa Clara, but perhaps things have changed.
Interesting, huh?
I wrote an extensive story questioning Marathe’s influence with the Yorks on Nov. 18. One day later, @SoCaliSteph “took another look at Marathe” on Niners Nation.
Paraag Marathe will continue to take a larger role in outside ventures for the York family, including Sacramento Republic soccer team.

The 49ers can wait this out, call it what they want, but all credible sources indicate that Marathe is out as a 49ers decision-maker. — Tim Kawakami (@timkawakami) December 4, 2015
Here’s the deal: the 49ers are hemorrhaging fans. KNBR’s 49ers insider, Matt Barrows, said the stadium was no more than two-thirds full when the 49ers lost to the Cardinals on Sunday. With home games coming up against the Bengals and Rams in the coming month, things will only look worse at Levi’s Stadium before the season ends. Marathe is not a popular figure among 49ers fans, and the Yorks would have to swallow a lot of pride to fire Tomsula this soon.
Perhaps the Yorks soured on Marathe months ago, but this seems like a rapid departure from how they felt about him before. It’s almost like Marathe, due to increased media pressure, became the latest scapegoat.
