The Golden State roster shrunk a bit Wednesday, and could shrink even more if things go badly for Andris Biedrins.
Dorell Wright traded to Philladelphia 76ers
UPDATE: The Warriors will instead receive Jarret Jack to backup Stephen Curry at point guard from the Hornets, rather than Edin Bavcic, as was previously reported.
The deal is still in the works, but it looks like the Warriors will address their need for a backup point guard by trading Dorell Wright.
Wright (and his $4.1 million salary) is still headed to the 76ers, it looks like.
Wright has been the subject of trade discussion for much of the off-season, and rightfully so with a tremendous amount of small forwards on the roster.
It remains to be seen what the Warriors will do with the extra money, but after adding a point guard in the deal it’s anyone’s guess, although General Manager Bob Meyers is ready to sign someone.
Andris Biedrins could be facing jail time
However, with recent news about Andris Biedrins emerging, a big man may be needed next season.
It was reported Tuesday that Biedrins may be facing up to five years in prison for tax evasion charges in his home country of Latvia.
Whether Biedrins and the two others under investigation are convicted is anyone’s guess, but this could have an impact on the Warriors’ plans moving forward.
