Today’s my first time at the 49ers’ facility, but I arrived way earlier than necessary for media availability that was canceled before I got here. However, I did see Jed York in the lobby, so there’s that. However, since I have a couple hours to kill before practice, I figured this is as good a time as any for some self-promotion!
I found out last night that Bay Area Sports Guy was one of seven local sports blogs to earn a nomination for CBS San Francisco’s Most Valuable Blogger contest in the “sports” category. No, I’m not joking! You can check it out for yourself.
As far as I can tell the publicity outweighs the prize (a $50 Amazon gift card); the main thing is it’s a huge honor to be in the mix with some of my favorite blogs, some of which have audiences and influence that dwarf a little indie blog like mine.
Since I’m pretty much a huge underdog, I’m going to ask you, kind reader, to go to the contest page every day and vote until the contest ends on September 9. According to the rules you can only vote once per day — per web browser. So if you are on Firefox and want to switch over to Chrome to vote again, or if you vote on your laptop and then on your mobile phone, I’m going to be a little bit disappointed in you for not following the spirit of the rules. But, we can just keep that between us. (I’m going to resist the temptation to add a “winking” emoticon to the end of this paragraph.)
Regardless of who wins this thing, I just want to thank all of you who took the time to fill out a nomination form on my behalf. There are many awesome sports blogs in the Bay Area that deserve to be nominated, and the fact that mine is listed first (sure, they’re listed in alphabetical order, but I’ll take what I can get) is already an honor unto itself. Happy voting!
