I’m just about to head out the door in a little bit for Warriors Media Day (or as they call it, “Tweedia Day”) at the refurbished headquarters in Oakland. Besides some huge images of past Warriors greats in the hallway leading to the practice courts, what am I looking forward to seeing? First of all, I’m just curious about who’ll be there.
Charlie Bell won’t, as his 2011 DUI/DWI double-play — along with an intoxicated court appearance in Michigan last week — means he’ll probably never wear a Warriors uniform again … even if the Clippers decide not to match the Warriors’ 4-year, $42.7 million offer to DeAndre Jordan.
Jeremy Lin was recently released, taking away one of last year’s biggest Media Day draws. The Warriors rescinded the team’s qualifying offer to restricted free agent small forward Reggie Williams. And with the Warriors not yet signing Klay Thompson and Jeremy Tyler so they can have enough cap space to make an offer to Jordan, it looks like the list of players that’ll almost surely be there might not be that long:
- Stephen Curry
- Monta Ellis
- David Lee
- Dorell Wright
- Andris Biedrins
- Ekpe Udoh
- Lou Amundson
- Charles Jenkins
Which means as per usual lately for Golden State, the stars will probably be guys in suits. Mark Jackson’s going to hold court for a while in more ways than one, Larry Riley will probably be available and we might even have a Joe Lacob or even a Jerry West sighting. I’ll be there with my Flip Cam and dumb questions, so we’ll see what multimedia goodies I can rustle up this afternoon.
